Proud heritage:

Generations of wine farmers have cultivated fine vineyards on the banks of the Olifants River and its tributaries. As early as the eighteenth century, travellers bound for the interior picked up barrels of brandy here as part of their provisions. In the opulent era of the ostrich boom in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the wines of Oudtshoorn were welcome guests at any dinner table. They were counted an extension of the hosts hospitality. Today that tradition is carried on by many fine restaurants in town which offer local wines with pride. Kango Wines has been an integral part of this proud heritage.

Oudtshoorn offers a rare mix of scenic beauty, cultural significance and traditional hospitality. The area was originally inhabited by four tribes of Bushmen. European settlers followed in the 1750s and started to cultivate the soil in the fertile valleys. Oudsthoorn is rich in cultural diversity, as reflected by the variety of stage productions and art exhibits on offer at the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival every year. This heritage will live on in Kango Wines. Savour it on its own or with the excellent local cuisine.
